I was gifted a pair of these shoes because the original owner bought them in the wrong size. My street shoe size is 44.5 and i was surprised to see that at 42.5 these fit perfectly.
I have worn them for over a year, and im still going, considering that they have served me so well i am going to resole them. I have used these shoes for indoor and outdoor climbing and bouldering (sandstone and limestone)
These shoes are just great all round shoes, sticky and soft for smearing, but due to the great construction there is a lot of support and tension in the shoe that doesn't seem to let up. So if you encounter a route where you have to edge these shoes work great. Even after over a year of extensive climbing they haven't deformed too much, and still feel like they have quite a lot of tension in the toe box.
The fit is really snug , it has an elastic one piece tongue that allows you to slip into the shoe like a sock. Combined with a singular velcro strap and the elastic upper result in a very comfortable fit. The shape of the toe box is rather wide and for lack of a better term "blunted" so i think that they may not fit every climbers feet but for me they feel fantastic.
The upper is lined with synthetic material which reduces the stretching out of the shoe and improves longevity but at a price... Synthetic materials in shoes make them stink like crazy. And these shoes are no exception, by far my most smelly pair i have owned to date.
It was my first time climbing on vibram xs grip 1 having usually climbed on grip 2, edge, and c4 stealth. First impression is that they are really sticky! it tended to look a little more rough after use than grip 2 so i thought that they might have been wearing out more quickly, but considering they are still holding up im quite impressed.
The only thing that i think may need some improving is the durability of the toe rubber. It is stuck to the upper of the shoe and my toe patch began to separate from the shoe rather quickly ( within a month) It is still holding on but it was rather unexpected of a shoe of this price.
