The Womens Greenland No.1 Down Jacket by Fjällräven is despite, or maybe even thanks to its simplicity a real eye candy.
The Greenland No.1 Jacket is the new edition of the classic Greenland G-1000 Jacket, which can be traced back to the very beginnings of the Swedish outdoor specialist's company history. Now it comes as a lined version with high-quality European goose down.
Sustainability has been one of the most crucial points during the development and production of the jacket. The outer material is completely made of ethically correct fabrics (organic cotton and recycled synthetic fiber), while even the European goose down comes from a controlled farming with retraceable origin. Since the material has been impregnated with natural wax, no harmful substances arise here as well. At Fjällräven, the leather is made carefully by hand in their own manufactory. Last but not least, with every sold jacket one percent of the turnover is donated to the Save The Arctic Fox Project.
The jacket features a rather short and slightly fitted cut (hip-length). Thanks to its normal fitting, a medium-thick fleece jacket can be worn underneath as well. To achieve a tight-fit look go for one size smaller. However, if you want to wear your thick, cozy favorite sweater underneath you should pick one size larger.
The large logo on the sleeve, the long zip-pull on the front zip, as well as the bindings on the cuffs and hood are made of high-quality leather (just as the details on the inside). Last but not least, its durable manner of processing also counts for sustainability. The buttons have the advantage of being more durable and much easier to use than hook-and-loop fasteners, especially when wearing gloves, as the fleece material won't pill or get caught in the fastener.
To sum up, the Fjällräven Womens No.1 Down Jacket is a beautiful, timeless and functional high-quality jacket, which is perfectly suitable for everyday purpose, as well as winter hiking tours.
