The Arcteryx Bora2 Mid Leather Hiking Boot features an innovative 2-layer design!
This concept is inspired by robust Alpine boots with removable liners. You don't see this concept in hiking boots, but it certainly makes sense! The fact that you can remove the inner boot makes it especially comfortable to wear! The liner hugs the foot the foot and without having to break the boots in, the foot can move around in the liner and the liner can move around in the boot. This significantly reduces the risk of blisters! This construction is sustainable as well. If the membrane starts to become permeable after years of use, you can simply replace the liner, since it contains the laminate. And the outer boot is made of tough Nubuck leather (resoleable!)
Other than that, the Bora2 Mid is designed with the typical details of a good hiking boot such as: an all-around rubber bumper strip to prevent any abrasions on boulders, extended, slightly-asymmetrical lacing, a pull-on tab (on the liner as well) and a Vibram rubber outsole with enhanced rigidity and a coarse tread.
The midsole is sufficiently cushioned with injected TPU, so that the boot can still provide stability when carrying a heavy backpack. Yet the drop is rather low, which allows for a more direct and powerful stride.
The Bora2 Mid Leather Hiking Boot is a highly-functional combination of a synthetic, waterproof liner (which can be worn separately as a slipper!) and a classic, tough boot made of leather. It is versatile and, thanks to the 2-layer construction, more comfortable, easy to maintain and flexible in terms of replacing individual elements of the boot!
